Certificate Course in Counselling

Counselling is a process where a client and counsellor set aside time in order to explore difficulties which may include the stressful or emotional feelings of the client.

Many people will at some point in life find themselves in the role of a counsellor without having a true understanding of counselling or what the role of the professional counsellor entails. There is however a big difference between a professional counsellor and a person who gives suggestions or advises  as part of their role as a friend, a colleague or a relative.Most of the time those who do that considerit as counselling.

A professional counsellor is a trained individual who is able to use  different range of counselling approaches with the clients. A trained counsellor reduces confusion, ambiguity in thinking and allows the client to make effective decisions leading to positive changes in attitude or behaviour as the ultimate aim of counselling is to enable the clients to make decisions, reach their own decisions and to act upon them accordingly.

These roles of a counsellor need professional training rather than giving advice or suggestions based on experience or commonsense.

The certificate course in counselling offers training to candidates in different professions performing the role of a counsellor, and those interested and looking for a career as counsellors in various professions.

Eligibility Criteria:

The course is open for candidates interested in practising Counselling, in various Professions – Therapists, Teachers, HR/Personnel Managers, Counsellors, Social Workers, Health providers, NGO staff, Software Employees and students with a graduate degree from any recognised University.

Commencement of the Course:  February  2020

Duration:  Twelve (12) weeks .Classes will be held on weekends only, with four (4) sessions per week.

Timings: 10.30 am – 4.30 pm

Fee:  Rs12000 inclusive of course material.

Course Procedure: The course comprises of lectures and practical sessions. There will be a written assignment and evaluation at the end of the course. Certificates will be awarded to those who complete all the requirements of the course.
